Anaesthesia Department

The Department of Anaesthesia & Critical care  at GMSH-16 is a team of 10  Specialists, 2 operation theatre supervisiors and 23 operation theatre attendants.Our anaesthetists are responsible for the day to day administration of departmental programmes and services as well as implementing policies and procedures set forth by the department.

We Provide Clinical care in five operating rooms, of which surgery OT is placed at first floor, Ortho OT is placed on second floor, (both opposite the Emergency and trauma unit), Obs/Gynae OT placed on first floor just above the labour room, MTP OT on ground floor next to labour room and ENT/Dental OT on fifth floor in the new OPD block. Along with that we also provide clinical care in intensive care unit which is  placed on first floor above the Emergency department.

Over the years deparment has set-up its own high standards in providing protocoled anaesthesia and ICU services to  general surgery, Obs/Gynae surgery, ENT surgery, Ortho surgery, urology, paeds surgery,GI surgery, Oral+maxillofacial surgery and all laproscopic surgeries for both planned and emergency services.

The Operation theatres are equipped with state of the art anaesthsia machines, multipara monitors and ultrasonography for regional anaesthsia blocks and vascular access. All our post anaesthsia  recovery rooms are supported by high quality patient monitors and infusion pumps for controlled analgesia

The Intensive care unit (6 Bedded) started in April 2019 is well equipped with modern ventilators, multipara monitors, ultrasonography machine, ECHO machine, defibrilator, BiPAP and infusion pumps. 

The pre anaesthetic clinic services are placed at fourth floor open  from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM daily. We are aslo running Pain clinic in Ortho OT daily for patients suffering from acute and chronic pain.Along with that we are also imparting life saving anaesthesia skills to medical interns, nursing interns and OT Technicians.

The faculty is proposed for DNB programme and are available round the clock for the services according to the roster.

The administrative staff brings a wide range of backgrounds, skills and years of experience to their position.
